I recently bought a voucher for an oven, grill and hob deep clean from Living Social Deals. It took dozens of attempts to make contact with the cleaning company, and when I did they informed me that they didn't cover my area. By this time, the 5 day cooling off period had expired and I was not eligible for a refund. Unfortunately I had missed the detail in the Ts and Cs which explained that the voucher was only valid for homes in certain postcodes and, importantly, not my postcode.

I have contacted Living Social and they have no intention of giving me a refund or exchange. In all communication with them they refer to their Ts and Cs. The voucher cost me £29. Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to get my money back?

Others might have a different opinion but to me this is fairly straightforward. They made it clear in their T&Cs that certain areas aren't covered. You didn't read these conditions. Probably best to chalk this one up to experience.

I'm not sure where you stand in terms of the DSR when buying vouchers for services so there *might* be additional cover that could help you (e.g. the cooling off period is actually 7 days, not 5). I'm not confident though and believe that you've probably lost your money.

Could you try flogging the voucher to someone who does live in the right area?
