Part of the Furniture 10,000 Posts Combo Breaker Mortgage-free Glee!
When I used to work at Woolies, they called it 'price establishment'.

We'd receive a batch of goods. The bar code would scan at the low price - but we were told what price to put on the price sticker.

When the sales came, we'd get more stock, and peel off the stickers from any of the old stuff that hadn't sold. I'm sure it wasn't just the single store that had to do it. This was about 10 years ago, I don't know if they still do it like that. If you see a manual price sticker in Woolies, though...!
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

    Well it was 1p cheaper!
  • Having used to work for them theres basically 2 ways they do offers to claim savings...

    1. Establish the price for the 28 days required before cutting and claiming the
    saving.

    2. Introductory offer - claiming an introductory offer saving on a new product which then goes back up to a higher price. Its rare this is done though as it is a pain to manage.

Their systems aren't sophisticated enough to price products differently in different stores in order to claiming savings in that way. Its one price across the country in stores.

Most discrepencies are usual down to store not updating price tickets.
