I have a Degenerative condition and was granted DLA "for Life" back in 1993.
Though it seems that those that makes the rules can change them on a whim or as they please.

Me to but in 1992 for me.
As already noted, DLA is no longer awarded on this basis.

They changed the rules retrospectivly to change lifetime awards like mine to indefinate awards and thats diffrent from not awarding DLA on a lifetime basis anymore, and it dosnt make any sense as my injuries are degenerative as are all but one of my congenital conditions so there was never a hope in hell of my improving in anyway.

I get the highest rate of both DLA componants and the highest level possible of IB and neither are anywhere near ehat you have quoted, your wrong and by a considerable amount (so not rounded up) on both DLA and IB!

Higher rate mobility and higher rate care combined, amount to £500 every four weeks, so the OP is only £50 off, but given that it is an estimate, I wouldn't say they were wrong by a considerable amount.
Dear Lord, I am calling upon you today for your divine guidance and help. I am in crisis and need a supporting hand to keep me on the right and just path. My mind is troubled but I will strive to keep it set on you, as your infinite wisdom will show me the way to a just and right resolution. Amen.

    £150/wk IB.

Long term incapacity benefit is currently £94.25 per week, rather than the £150 you quoted, according to direct.gv.uk.

The problem with google is it removes the use of a brain, your totally wrong about the maximum for both benefits and I should know as I get them!

I get £125 DLA per week (top rate both componants) and £120 IB per week (long term high rate+ highest age addition)

I didnt give any penny figures as they are a small amount, well over £1k pa (each) out (as in the OP) is not rounding figures up

£125 per week DLA highest rates is £500 per 4 weeks. I am not wrong about that componant. Are you sure you receive it? If so, you would know it came to £500 every 4 weeks.

I gave what direct gov states for IB, not what it states for IB and highest age addition as it did not state in the OP whether or not the person was under the age of 45 when she became too ill to work.

Now I was under the impression that DLA isn't for an illness but is for not being able to do everyday activities such as walking, washing yourself, etc. She can clearly do both (I.E. Walking to court). Does this set a legal precedent?

I get indefinite DLA, I work. I can guarantee you that observing me for 10 or 15 minutes you'll be under no doubt I'm entitled to it. I could sit and do nothing for the rest of my life and get Incapacity or whatever its now called but my morals and my work ethic don't allow this. I would go mental doing nothing but watching Kyle every day.

I think you probably could, but it would most likely be under the mental category, ie a risk to others, seeing as you are pre-disposed to wanting to shoot strangers who you dont like, which quite clearly could be said to put you in a risk to others category if you were put in the workplace.

Your 'morals' (which include wanting to shoot people) and work ethic would not come into the equation, you do realise, how these benefits work surely, having previously actually tried to claim ESA....
[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that

  • As she gets a £40K pension the IB will be zero as you loose 50Pence for every pound over £85 per week earned,

as for the DLA who knows

So IB is means tested, then? That's interesting.

It can be difficult to form an opinion on something when there are things that don't add up - for example claiming IB and a private pension.

Higher rate care and mobility combined, is definitely £500 every four weeks, despite what has been said on here.
