Planning on going end of March for 5 days. Want a really good centrally located hotel, any suggestions? Also, has anyone seen any shows there recently?

As for shows............. the half price TKTS booth has moved from Times Square to 48th Street. If you queue there on the morning you want to go, you can pick up half price tix for many shows.
Things like Spamalot and Wicked, will NOT be available through this booth, they have been sold out for AGES****************************0 -
Hi Karena
I've just arrived home from New York a couple of days ago. I stayed at Hotel Pennsylvania on 7th Avenue. It's a fantantic location - opposite Madison Square Gardens, 10 mins walk to Time Square, two blocks from the Empire State Building and right next to Broadway.
The hotel's had mixed reviews, so I was a bit apprehensive, but as I only planned on spending minimal time there (purely for sleeping and showering) I figured it'd do - and it did, no complaints from me.
I booked back in September, via hotelopia.com, and for five nights, 2 double beds and all your usual amenities it came to 180 pounds (so 36 pounds a night) each.
I'm so jealous you're going - let me know if a spare ticket becomes available.

We stayed in the Hotel Metro. Do a search on here very good and very central.I'll get me coat!0

I'd recommend doing a search on venere.com - really helpful website with lots of good maps/reviews, and reasonable prices too (which you also don't have to pay in advance)
Plus for 4% off, use code: BK5HX8W
I think it's a good idea to check out this website even if you find hotels cheaper elsewhere, as the descriptions and maps are generally better than other sites in my opinion.
Hope that helps0 -

Thanks for that Natasha :T , I am off on the 15th and have just booked that hotel on the same basis, it will be used for sleeping/washing. I have seen the mixed reviews and was a bit wary but as its only £95 for 4 nights and a great location thought I would give it a go.
Am glad to hear its ok and I have not booked somewhere really awful!Any spelling mistakes are entirely on purpose to check you're paying attention

I am hoping to see Beauty and the beast when I visit in November. Is it best to book tickets in advance or wait until we are in NY?
Just realised that Beauty and the beast ends in July so won't be able to see that BUT Grease is opening in July so will see that if I can!

For good offers on tickets, keep an eye on https://www.theatremania.com and https://www.broadwaybox.com .
Read the hotel reviews and forums on http://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g60763-New_York_City_New_York-Vacations.html0 -
I would also recommend taking a look at trip advisor; https://www.tripadvisor.com, for some advice. At least on trip advisor your are getting the real opinions of fellow travellers.
Hope this helps!0
