Obtaining tax certificates for tax paid on interest payments

For more than six months now I have been trying to obtain a tax certificate detailing the tax I have paid (or paid on my behalf) on interest earned with my savings deposited with Halifax.
I've made repeated requests both in branch and by phone and filed a complaint (even resulting in a small compensation payment) but I'm still down a tax certificate. I've received all my P60s and tax certificates from other banks, and checked multiple times that the address they have for me is correct (I receive statements, credit card bills and marketing material from them effectively enough).
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get this done? It seems like the requests/complaints aren't being passed on to the place that actually makes the certificates and I've got no way of contacting them directly.

If you think of it as 'us' verses 'them', then it's probably your side that are the villains.

Have a go at it yourself? If your payments from Halifax have been made net, then add them all up, divide by 80 (tax on savings income is at 20%)and times by 100. That will be the gross figure. The difference between gross and net is the tax. Double check it all works together.0

Ask it to be sent to your local branch. May I ask what you need it for? If it's merely for your records, the statement around April should give necessary information. If it's to obtain an HMRC refund, you probably don't need it - see R40.
That's not a bad idea, hopefully it will help highlight the problem when it inevitably doesn't turn up. Thanks.
I will be using it to do get a HMRC refund but the situation is a bit more complex in that a significant proportion of my income is tax free (stipend) so I need clear documentation on what constitutes taxable income and what does not.If you think of it as 'us' verses 'them', then it's probably your side that are the villains.0 -
I've had this problem too recently but fortunately their complaints dept sent me the tax deduction certificate plus £75 in compensation in the same envelope.
I would write back to whoever handled the complaint saying you've yet to receive it. I think that's more likely to yield the certificate than starting the process all over again with random depts. Depending how generous you are, give Halifax one more chance to get it right as I suggest, or you could just take it to the FOS. I would definitely be threatening the FOS if you do write direct to the complaints handler.0 -

You got a bit more than I got then. They coughed up the comp the same day, I just wish they'd be as quick with the cert. I will follow up the complaint then asking it to be sent to the local branch. If you think of it as 'us' verses 'them', then it's probably your side that are the villains.0
