Car insurance - excluding commuting to and from work

I have recently changed jobs, and at my old job I got free parking.

In my new job, I no longer have that, so decide not to go to work in my car now.

Are there any insurers out there that offer a cheaper quote for someone who only uses their car for social use i.e. excluding commuting to and from work?

Lots of insurers provide lesser quote if commuting excluded from use. Usually Social & domestic/pleasure attract less premium.
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

Do quotes on supermarket.com and confused.com you will see the difference, many if not all will give you a discount for only using the car for S and D use only.

I have to say that many insurers dont discount SDP cover significantly over a policy including commuting - there are some that actually charge more (car in a works car park with lots of people around is possibly safer than on a driveway of an unoccupied house)

Yes, it could work either way...but generally speaking, as your mileage will also drop, unless you live in car thief city, your premium should go down.
