    Everyone I'd spoken to about it said you have to do what is right for you, and my boss understood the situation. Yes it's not great for the company, but it's also not your fault. They wouldn't hesitate to make you redundant if they had to.

    I think you're right. I have spoken to the guy who's already offered me the job and told him that I'm waiting to hear back from another employer. He was very understanding and sounded grateful to be told, and said that if they offered more that I should come and talk to him about it.

    I'm glad that I was upfront about it, as no matter what happens now I don't think there can be much in the way of bad feelings.
