According to Chrismac1 anyone who is (or was) a public sector worker is a leech who drains all the money from hard workers like him.

Generally have a lot of time for your posts chrismac but that is a little harsh - my wife would regard herself as an 'average' public sector worker in the Health Service - at least until she retired last year on ill health grounds after 32 years service on a pension of £6000 per year.

Depends on your definition of average, I suppose.

Absolutely not. There are times in my own career when an employer has funded my pension. I looked on it as a priviledge and a nice benefit albeit not as nice as a car! Certainly not a right, nor an entitlement. Parts of the public sector are great, other parts are fully signed up to the Entitlements Culture which in my view - from the Boardroom to the Benefits punters to the Rioters - is the root cause of the economic malaise. Chinese people earn a fraction of Western salaries but save 30% to 40% of their cash, the Entitlements Culture forms no part of that country which is why we owe it so much money.

No job / Benefits doesn't stop the SA registration. And you don't need to file for at least another 5 months. By which time you may have another job.

Shorter term - you need to rationalise taking the money for the one week with the Benefits?
