Funny (or not so funny!) noises
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone might have any ideas with what could be wrong with my Y reg 2.0 Golf (petrol).
I have started hearing a low pitch noise, but only when the steering wheel is left of centre. It sounds like its coming from the front nearside area. Its obviously motion connected as its barely noticeable at low speeds, but gets louder when going faster. It happens regardless of acceleration and regardless of being in gear or not.
The front end of the exhaust sounds a bit farty (technical term!) which is getting checked out later this week - could this be connected?
Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I'd start by getting the n/s/f wheelbearing checked, though I'd normally expect it to get louder when you steered to the right.0

If the noise occurs when he turns the steering to the left, then surely the right-hand (offside) wheel bearing would be the suspect one?0

I thought i might have got my left and rights mixed up (again), but no its definitely when steering to the left. thanks for the help, I presume if that is the issue it is safe to drive for another few days?0
