Skip comp refuse to put their damage right

Hi guys in a big mess at the moment which is causing alot of stress around the new home and wondered if anyone could advise
We hired a skip from a large skip company and when they came to collect it through their negligence they managed to put a massive hole in our concrete drive
They placed another skip from a previous job onto our driveway then lifted them both up onto the lorry without using wood or anythingto spread the load - it was the drivers first day we found out afterwards
They came out that same day to see the damage and agreed to repair it as it was their fault, they came out again with a builder to see the damage again and get quotes etc
Infortunately due to the rain they could not fix it that day and agreed to come another time.
Now they have just gone silent on us, so i phoned them up and a very rude man told me they are not going to put it right as it was our fault and to 'read the smallprint' they proceeded to argue with me and my partner.
We have a 1 year old, two 11yo's and a 8yo kid and are worried to death about this big hole in the driveway that they made through clearly falling below the reasonable standards of care.
It later came out that this large skip company is also involved with several similar cases (knocking fences, telegraph poles etc down and leaving them)
I did'nt want compensation at all, only for them to put right their mistake WHICH THEY AGREED, but now they are ignoring my letters, calls and emails and this is causing far to much stress and anguish after moving into our new house
What can i do?
I am currently looking for the builder who came out to see us, have lots of witnesses who saw this event, but this is causing so much stress for our first xmas in this house

You will need to go through the actions and take them to court. Letter before action etc.
Why are you worried sick about the hole? Do something to make it safe at least temporarily.0 -
Get several quotes from companies for how much it will cost to repair. Send copies of these quotes along with a letter before action (LBA) to them. In the letter, try to keep it straightforward and to the point. State what happened, what you want them to do (ie pay for repair as agreed) and give them 7 days to reply. Send it recorded delivery and keep a copy for your own records.
If they dont respond within that time, file a claim against them. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
