cost plumbing upstairs toilet

Hi,
We have a classic Victorian terrace, with a single storey extension out the back containing the kitchen and bathroom.
I'd love an upstairs loo and am thinking of pinching some space off the landing to put one in. Before going any further it would be really helpful to have a ball park idea of plumbing costs.
I'm thinking it might be £££ because of the sewage piping - the current bathroom is right at the back of the (single storey) extension.
Has anyone done something similar??

installing a wc in the middle of a terraced house is a real problem cause of the soil pipe.
a wc really needs to be against an outside wall.
one option is to install a macerator.

conecting into the existing drainage is best if you can ?
macerators are a last resort,i would not have one.0 -
Get a plumber in to see if fall of pipes can work to use your downstairs soil pipe - it doesn't need to be directly above . A macerator will be absolutely last choice - they are noisy for you and for your neighbours if in a terrace.
Do you have a budget in mind?0 -
of course you can always route a pipe to the other existing one. anyone can do that.
however in the middle of a terraced house? a 4 inch pipe? how are going to hide that?
under the floorboards? along the skirting?
you maybe lucky and the joists run the correct way for your pipe, but i still hate the idea of a 4in soil pipe running halfway through my house.
with joints?Get some gorm.0 -

Which is why I said they should get a plumber in who can actually see what is needed? None of us can see the locations of everything and macerators are horrible noisy things that get easily blocked0 -
Hi again,
Thanks very much for the replies.
From what I've read I really don't want a macerator, and I don't like the idea of a soil pipe running through the whole house either!!
The loo would be against the back wall of the house upstairs.
The back wall then meets the roof of the first floor extension, which sticks out into the garden.
Hope that makes sense!
I'm asking on here rather than just getting someone in to quote because I don't have the money to do it yet, and just trying to get a ballpark idea of how much I need to start saving for.0 -
If your downstairs loo is in that extension you may be not to bad, good chance your new one upstairs could channel the soil pipe to join it.
How far is it upstairs from any cold water for the flush, do you have a tank in the loft ?Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

The cost is directly proportional to the distance you have to run the supply and waste. Everything else is the same regardless of where you put it.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Thanks SailorSam,
Yes, the downstairs loo is in the extension.
And there is a cold water tank in the loft - it's probably about 12 feet away from where the loo would be?0 -
