Blackberry's and PAYG?

My daughter has blackberry on orange payg. We top up £10 at beginning of the month orange take £5 of this for the blackberry services (bbm) this lasts the whole month regardless of whether the remaining £5 credit is used. She is also on the Dolphin plan You can text, poke or tweet as many times as you like with Dolphin. Just top up £10 or more each month and we'll give you free texts and free internet on your phone. Again this lasts one month regardless of the credit that is left. As long as you top up again at the start of the next month then he will always have his free internet and bbm. Hope this helps

I have just bought 2 blackberry phones for my daughters for Christmas and have found out the following which i think could answer your question
On Orange PAYG you can go on a tariff called Dolphin which is more of a plan designed around Facebook and social networking.
I phoned Orange yesterday myself and they confirmed that if I top up £10 per month and ask for the bbm to be added they would take £5 credit from the £10 that I had just put on but they would still get the 400 texts and free internet (fair usage).
I thought this was ideal for my kids as all their friends all have them.

We bought my daughter a Blackberry last year and I think since then, she has topped up £30 over the year.

She's never lost her BBM service, and can quite happily go on the internet without having to top up and she's not connecting through Wifi either.

God knows why she's able to do that if it's meant to cost £5 a month.

Hi, No, she's on Orange.

She topped up £10 the day she got it, then £10 a couple of months later, and then another £10 in the summer.

To be honest I'd forgotten all about it, but I did wonder back in January why she was able to use all functions and not top up.

If she or I knew what it was, I'd tell you! I've got my son a Blackberry for Christmas, totally forgetting you're meant to pay a fiver a month for BBM, doh!

Refer to post #7. It costs nothing or a pound to unlock it. You can change the software to T-Mobile. Then you really only need to spend £30 for BIS and data for 12 months.

I wouldn't change it, it was specifically bought on Orange as me and my husband can add him as a magic number (plus the rest of the family are on Orange).

He'll just have to top up with his pocket money which isn't a problem.

I'm on O2, blackberry is different from other phones you have to pay £5 a month for internet regardless of how much it is used in the month. Then you need to put credit on for your call time which is totally up to you. But me personally I pay £5 for the internet and £10 for my credit which I get free texts and call time for the month. If your unsure decide on what network you want to go with and have alook at what they offer for how much you want to pay ie £10 etc and then add £5 for internet.
