    Hi again.

I thought I would add.If I go back to the topic of the thread and the first post it is obvious that your son has significant needs in many areas of daily living...if he didn't you would not have needed to apply for DLA.It is obvious to me that a child with this level of need in so many areas would need significant help in order to access education usually available to most children of the same age whether they are bright or not.So please don't let anyone suggest that just because there are no obvious problems in lessons there are no educational problems.

If your son has just started wetting himself I wonder if it could be to do with the change in routine because the regular teacher has been sick ?

It is worth making notes and keeping on at people. If you or school decide that more support is needed evidence is required and so it is useful to have documented things.

On one helpful note the fact that your son is unsettled will enable professionals to gather information to support the DLA application if the DWP contact them.

    Karen.

Have either you or the school tried applying for statutory assessment? It is something you can do yourself and doing this has the benefit of meaning that you are kept informed if, like us, you find the school a tad lacking in communication skills. Starting the process is as simple as writing to the SEN team and asking for a statutory assessment and if they say no you have the right to appeal. My experience was that when they refused I rang them and told them I would appeal and they suggested I wrote and asked again - LOL (I think).

Not DLA related but try this for bedding

    http://www.fledglings.org.uk/

They offer a fantastic service and have a whole range of clothes, toys, swimwear, furniture all for children and adults with disability. They will also try to source items if they don't have them in their catalogue.

On the days/times/minutes question - I put 'ongoing' on most of mine. How can you put a time on something like supervision or speech therapy when you are doing it every minute of the day even when you don't realise that's what's happening? DLA never queried it. Depressing as it is, remember to always write about your worst day/time with your child. All children have good days and bad and we all have days when we cope better than others. Good days don't get DLA.
