Sorry marywooyeah, they're a small local firm with a few branches around here but confined to the West Midlands which might not be worth the journey for you? I'm happy to PM you with their details if you did want to follow it up, bear in mind how much the prices fluctuate for different sizes, is it 185 60 R14 that you need?

aw thanks anyway, they're good prices especially if you do the price match you'll get a great deal!

re the tyre sizes - not sure, guessing they are just standard ones (I have an astra) but I'm a new motorist so still getting used to all this.

Have a look on the side of your tyres should say something like
    185 60 R14
or 195/65/15 and a speed rating of H or V would probably be right.

    Look at blackcircles.com

they tend to be a good price, and you can choose their fitting option, which will be at a garage near you.
So you can avoid the up-selling, and get a fixed price.

You forgot to add Ditchfinder-Pro to your list of possibilities for tyre choice, at just £12 each!
  • I went with Uniroyal Rainsport 2 but I put the same rubber on each corner. Around £260/280 fitted for 205/55/16.

They have proved very good in the wet and are far surer to drive on that the previous Michelins.

Oooh goody... I do like a "What tyre should I get?" thread.

I like to guess how many posts it will be before someone comes up with all the old cliches like "Ditchfinders" and "£x per corner"

Just need somebody else to post "It's the only thing keeping your car in contact with the road" and "new set of boots" and we will have the lot....
  • Why not get some genuine all season tyres? If you check out mytyres.co.uk and put your size in with the all season option ticked you get a good selection at similar prices to yours (within the £55 budget anyway although fitting may be extra)

Of note from the list you will see are Hankook Optimo 4S and Vredestein Quatrac 3's

    Get the Goodyear or Dunlop.

    Decent price and decent brands.
  • Brands really don't mean a lot without the individual tyre reference though. Some Michelins are well worth a premium, others aren't

The Uniroyals are Rainexpert and I've got the price on those now down to £42...
  • They seem to get OK reviews at tyretest.com and price seems fine. They are a "summer" tyre and not a genuine all season tyre though picking up on what yoiu said earlier
