is this the right amount to cancell insurance

hello, my daughter cancelled her car insurance and they charged her a £200 fee , is that about correct..thankyou

You need to get the fee itemised, then compare what she is being charged with what they say will be charged if she cancels the policy in the policy conditions. Then take it from there.0

They would not have charged a £200 fee. Typically, the cancellation fee is no more than £50. A figure of £200 would include other things. Such as premium due to the next cancellation point (i.e. a cancellation after 3 months may require 4 months premium to be paid) or if she bought any non-refundable extras (legal expensese, some breakdown cover etc) then these need to be paid for.
She should ask for a breakdown as Quentin says above.
Insurers are pretty good at publishing their cancellation terms nowadays. Most have them on their website whilst all should have them in the documentation that the issue pre and post sale.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
