Edit: My OH is male, he just got jealous of my wonderful engagement ring and wanted one for himself
Yay, I am so glad I'm not the only one :j
My OH went on and on about an engagement ring, he wanted a titanium Lord of the Rings one and currently wants a gold inlaid titanium wedding ring, but since the wedding is 19 months away he will have no doubt changed his mind by then (he's a proper girl at times :rotfl:).
OP have you considered buying a cheapish wedding band and replacing it at a later date?0 -

Where can you find proof of this, so we can take a print out of it into the shop. Have PM'd you but I've never heard this before and google is only coming up with your post (I might be typing in the wrong search words though lol). I could save a considerable amount of money if we really could get this deal! I thank you in advance. I got my engagement ring from there and despite bad reviews all over the internet, over a year later I still couldn't be happier with my ring. It sparkles in the dark :j There are pictures of it somewhere :-)Yaaay, I finally conned a man into making a honest woman of me. Even more shocking is that I can put the words "Happily" and "Married" into the same sentence and not have life insurance on my mind when I say it ;-)0 -

I have sent you a PM...only seen the offer instore.
We had a rep from Forever Wedding Rings visit the house yesterday and we're quite impressed. Need to look at our budget and maybe ask for a little more off if we can but they offer a lifetime guarantee and an amazing selection. You also only pay the cost of materials and labour so as I am a size H and ring is made to order it is cheaper!
Going to give the buyfinediamonds a swerve...the emails from them are unreadable, the English is so bad and they are insisting on payment before we even see a picture!!!0 -

Earnest Jones offer isnt bad but they want £800 + for a 4mm / 5mm Platinum ring for me which is just too much considering Mrs SB will only be having a 2mm one at the cost of £325. so even with their offer its still £800 ish which is half of our total wedding budget!
Sounds like a fair deal - my hub & I had almost the same rings from a family friend, so pretty much cost price, for just over £1,000 7 months ago.0 -

This is what i've done.
You can use the vouchers on all full price items in store. The sales assistant said not very many people do it, but I got my wedding ring for free (should have been £249-white gold 18ct) & my OH will be getting his in Feb when the new vouchers come through. Even if you don't have the full value of the ring you can still make a saving.
We've boosted the vouchers by trading in old mobiles for points & collecting unwanted points off friends & relatives.
All in all, saved around £550 off the budget & we shop in Tesco anyway

My wife wanted a platimum ring some years after marriage and bought one from eBay. She then had the brilliant idea that mine should be platinum too ... eBay again. Don't exactly match (hers is patterned), but a lot cheaper than buying in a shop.
Otherwise I'd go with the Goldsmiths / Tesco voucher advice, although now it's January I believe you will only get 3 x value and not 4 x as previously. You may also be able to find the vouchers for sale on eBay - example below :

Just wanted to say a big thanks to everyone on here so far
.
I am taking the soon to be Mrs SB to london later this month. after trawling around the net / stores i have come up with the figures of:
mrs wedding ring - platinum Medium weight 2mm (high wall'd) - cheapest cost £350
My wedding ring - platinum extra heavy weight 5mm (court) - cheapest £900
But i have found that with 20% 'off' price so total = £1k ... ouch...
if i go for palladium then i have found the same ring for £307!
Looks like i will be buying palladium for myself as i cant justify wearing £1k's worth of platinum on my finger.
I would rather put the £700 ish quid on my mortgage or towards the wedding.
I have been wimpering of the cost of my wanted wedding ring.... but it comes in at £1300!!!Mortgage free wannabe!
Total mortgage = £106k
Monthly payments = £523
Extra monthly Payments = £500
Total extra paid in 2012 = £5000 -

Definitely would not go for Tesco/Goldsmiths option...it's very easy to compare the price of plain wedding bands online and typically Goldsmiths charge about twice the price of internet retailers such as http://www.thebeautifulcompany.co.uk/ (where I got ours from). There are much better things to spend Tesco vouchers on!0 -
i love .... but hate this site!
Thank you for all yor inputs again. yet again i have changed who i may be buying the rings from ....
i was first going back to the jewelers (madisons london) whom we got our engagement ring from.
then it was betts metals, now thebeautifulcompany is even cheaper....
now going for this :http://www.thebeautifulcompany.co.uk/wedding-jewellery/palladium-wedding-rings-all-types/palladium-court-wedding-ring-xtra-heavy-weight-6mm-wide_wbco6hpal
and this for her: http://www.thebeautifulcompany.co.uk/wedding-jewellery/platinum-wedding-rings-all-types/platinum-d-shape-wedding-ring-width-medium-heavy-weight-2-mm-wide_wdl2p
One thing i will ask... with platinum... does it matter is a 950 grade ?Mortgage free wannabe!
Total mortgage = £106k
Monthly payments = £523
Extra monthly Payments = £500
Total extra paid in 2012 = £5000
