Well...
Unfortunately weddings are not money saving, but im trying to keep the cost down as much as possible as we dont have ££££ to spend on a lavish wedding.
Anywho... rings . I have got Mrs SB a platinum engagement ring.. so her wedding ring must be of the same material...
If would also be nice for mine to be platinum too ( so they match and im not a fan of white / yellow gold).
but my god! platinum has gone through the roof in cost in the 3 years since i got her first ring. shops want min of £800 for both rings
does anyone know any good online places to get the rings from ( ideally under £500 but could stretch a little more).
Thank you
Adam

Hi, every time rings are mentioned, people suggest going to Betts Metals and registering as a trade member - you can sign up as a hobbyist, and then you can get the rings at trade prices.0

I'm going to see these people in a couple of weeks....prices are rather good just hoping the rings are too! http://www.buyfinediamonds.com/Default.aspx We'll go back to Earnest Jones if we don't like these, they do 20% off if you buy 2 rings of the same metal.0

Hi and thanks for your reply
Earnest Jones offer isnt bad but they want £800 + for a 4mm / 5mm Platinum ring for me which is just too much considering Mrs SB will only be having a 2mm one at the cost of £325. so even with their offer its still £800 ish which is half of our total wedding budget!Mortgage free wannabe!

Try Palladium too - it's compatible with platinum so neither ring will wear from rubbing against the other and it looks just as good. It's a bit cheaper too.

Hi Vicky. Thanks for that
Thing is its not her ring that is costing lots... its mine
Her ring is 2mm Platinum, medium weight and is around the £300 mark which we can cope with.
I have tried on a few rings at jewlers and anything thinner than 4mm looks stupid on my huge hands... only problem abour 4mm + rings is that the price is astronomical.. even in palladium which im happy to accept. in platinum my ring would be £800. In palladium its around the £400 mark.Mortgage free wannabe!

I see!
It depends if you're prepared to compromise on the matching thing - we've just bought my fiance a Cobalt ring from Goldsmiths which was £99 - it's meant to be very hard wearing and is a silvery colour. (I feel very guilty as will have to have a shaped palladium one to go with my platinum ring, but this also meant that we wouldn't be having matching rings anyway). They also have tungsten and titanum, all of which are much cheaper than the Pt/Pd options.

My OH bought his Palladium one from there and it looks good but he hasn't worn it yet so I can't give a better review of it.0 -

My OH has a titanium engagement ring, it wasnt expensive for a 5mm ring. I got it from www.fatcowdesigns.com
Edit: My OH is male, he just got jealous of my wonderful engagement ring and wanted one for himself0 -

My ring's a 5mm flat court, size R1/2 (quite large) and heavy weight. Found it in platinum in Tiffany when I was picking out the wife's ring (which was so small it was affordable in there) - it was £1175. I got the same spec, but in palladium, for £280 in the Jewellery Quarter in brum. Honestly can't tell the difference to look at and it's real comfortable to wear. Didn't come in such a nice box the Tiffany one would have, but that's my only criticism...0 -
The website we're considering for OH's wedding ring is The Beautiful Company - Palladium 5mm Std Weight Court £132.06 & the same in Platinum for £455.15. Also looked at Bands of Love and whilst prices are slightly higher, so is the weight & height of the band for the ring I'm looking at...0
