Insurance scam, can't stop them calling. Help please!

I could really do with some help on how to deal with this. I've posted it on the motoring forum, and on a different site.
A few weeks ago I got a call from some company, saying that I was due compensation for an accident I had last year. Unfortunately, I fell for their 'we're connected to the government' line and answered their questions.
I should say that the accident was as minor as it gets - a motorbike ran into the back of me at a very low speed (it was on a speed ramp outside a school). There was a 2mm dent in my exhaust, and no injury.
This company said that I just need to give them the reg number of the other vehicle and they'll send me a cheque for 3.4k.
After the call, I googled them, and realised they're a claims chasing company.
When they called back, I told them to get stuffed.
But they keep ringing me. Five times so far today - one at about four, then four within half an hour from about 6.
I don't believe for one second there's a big cheque waiting for me. I hate using the phone and I'm not going to take a load of meds to calm me down to be able to ring my insurers for the other guys reg, for lots of reasons. a) he seemed a nice guy, and I don't want to set this company on him. b)if there were money waiting for me, I'm sure my insurers would have told me - I'm in the same address with the same insurers (different car though). c) I don't want to add to the 'thousands of compo for a stubbed toe (although a stubbed toe is far more traumatic than the accident was!!)' culture.
This company can't even keep to the same name! One day it's 'UK claims management direct' the next it's 'UK compensation department'.
Can anyone pleeeeease tell me how to get them off my back?

The call is random. They spam them out to loads of people who knowing that chances are that there are some people who may have had an accident.
As you now realise, saying they are linked to the Govt is a frequent scam message. Can anyone pleeeeease tell me how to get them off my back?
report them to the ministry of justice.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
tell them you are progressing the claim through your own solicitor (but give no further details), if they think there is no claim for them to pursue then there is no point in ringing you0
-
just put the phone down
or politely ask them for their name and company name
then tell them you have registered with the TPS ( Telephone Preference Service )
http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/tps/index.html
and you are going to report them for unsolicited phone calls
I tried it with a firm of accident claim solicitors and the phone went down quicker their side than a rat up a drain pipe0 -
Thanks, I've tried just putting the phone down but they ring straight back.
I am registered with TPS.
Next time I'm just going to ask them for their details so that I can make a complaint to the MOJ.
Thanks for all the advice.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -

And report them to the tps.
For a bit of fun though, once you have their details, say 'just a moment please' put the phone to one side and just leave it there.
If they ring again, do the same again, they will get the message eventuallymake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

that's the one ^^
while there's no claim there's money to be made from somebody. While their is a claim you can't have another for the same accident.0 -

Hmm, maybe I should do some swotting up on the zincoxide thread...Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
