My energy company not so helpful
I contacted my energy company (NPower) who supply my gas and electric to discuss ways to pay back what I owe. I was made redundant a while ago and now receive JSA. I explained the situation. They said I could do fuel direct payment and a small amount would be taken out of my money, they would send the paperwork to the benefits department which they would send to me for me to sign agreeing to it. This morning I received a letter from the debt collections department. I rang the energy company and they had done nothing about the fuel direct arrangement and didn't know why, I was so upset I told them I couldn't talk to them right now. Will I have to pay an admin fee for the letter as well? I thought they wanted to help. In my case no help at all!

Fuel Direct is arranged by the DWP - sounds like you were mis-informed by an agent. Contact the DWP ASAP and feel free to complain to your supplier. In the mean time, unless you do either of those, expect collection action to continue.0

Very important!!!!
DO NOT CALL THEM ANY MORE from now on, but do everything by email or snail mail. INSIST that they do not call you either, but send any communications by written letter.0 -
Typical Npower - think yourself lucky they even mentioned Fuel Direct

There is some basic info. on Fuel Direct here http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/ManagingDebt/DebtsAndArrears/DG_10025592
In the meantime I suggest you complain in writing to Npower & demand they get matters in hand as promised / remove the fee0 -
