Ipod & Windows XP?

My son is looking to buy an IPOD (or similar), but only has Windows XP without Serivce pack 2, does that mean he is unable to buy/use the Apple IPOD Nano? I have seen this one in a post earlier & wondered if anyone has further feedback about it http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/445728/art/inovix/ipocket-2gb-mp3-player-in.html

I presume this one is suitable for Windows minus the Service pack 2?

Thanks - Any advice would be great...
