Bill CR payment question

I have moved house last year and my account states online that I'm in CR. I rang and they said they'd send me a cheque for the money owed. However, I am yet to receive this cheque and was just wondering if you can go on the 'Pay My Bills' section on EDF and it says the amount due for that specific bill is CR. Therefore if I put my card details in, will I receive the money owed?
Just asking in case something tragic happens, seeing as I'm a poor student hoping for a bit of christmas cheer.:beer:
