I worked in the Marketing Department of a couple of well known Tour Operators. Of the 5 prize draws / competitions we did (you had to enter them to be part of them), 3 of the winners refused to believe they had won / forgot they had entered, and didn't take their prizes.

One guy who physically went into one of our shops to enter a prize draw, thought I was a con artist trying to scam him when I called to tell him. He thought I was trying to sell him something / scamming him, and refused to accept the prize. He refused to believe he'd entered the competition despite the fact I had his signed entry form!

It was 2x Business Class flights to Bangkok with EVA Air, and 10 nights 5* accommodation in Bangkok & Hua Hin. Crazy.

I understand the cautiousness of those on this board, but sometimes people do just win things - I won a competition with Jack Daniels to be flown to Tennessee to their distillery and have a party with loads of bands, and they forgave my initial suspicion when they called me to let me know!

I do appreciate that there are some scamsters out there, but so long as you check the small print you can also be a lucky begar sometimes!!

I certainly do seem to be having a lucky streak. Last year I attended a luxury travel event in London, dropped by business card in some lottery thing, and got an email a week later telling me I'd won a night in a deluxe rooftop suite at a top hotel in London. I don't think I've ever won a holiday prior to these two recent events...
