Been thinking of change my anti-virus from AVG as it does suck up resources so this thread will be useful. I'm sick of AVG, for example, putting up a pop up telling me how much I.E is using.. I don't care! I care about stupid pop ups taking more resources!
I did uninstall Bing Bar. That really slowed I.E. down and now it's speeded up a fair bit, so check if you have bing bar installed and running, and get rid, if you don't use it.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.
I too switched from AVG to Avast and am so happy with it. I had noticed the long response times of AVG but no idea how much it was hogging! And I hated the pop-up too.
