My 13 year old daughter put a couple of poems into one of their contests and was thrilled to be told that one of them had been chosen to be put into the book 'Flight of Fancy'. She was told that it wasn't like any of the other publisher that require you to purchase the book to be published AND as she was only 13 she could claim a book for free.

I sent the confirmation back before the deadline to say that the copy was correct... BUT didn't put in an order costing £17+ Its taken me an absolute age to get round to sending off a copy of her passport for her free copy... always at the bottom of my action planning priorities as there was no deadline.

Finally, new years resolution, don't put off blah blah blah - sent it off and got a reply back today - 'unfortunately this book has already been published and Hollies poem does not appear in it as we did not receive 'this' in time to print'. THIS was only to receive a free copy!!!!!

Its all about the money My poor baby has been walking around for ages proud to be a published poet grrrrr

Thank you thats a lovely thought.

The first one 'Rock Star' was written when she was 13 (just turned 14), it is the one that was accepted for publication.

The other one I'll share with you was written a couple of years ago when she was being bullied, I really thought this one was quite amazing for a 'then' 12 year old - 'Pulling Teeth'

Rockstar

I wannabe a rockstar,
I want to sell some albums and get very far,
When I say something funny people will laugh,
People will come up to me for an autograph,

I’ll receive free V.I.P passes,
I won’t need to pay for expensive sun glasses,
I’ll change my name to Tre’ Cool,
And I’ll never be branded a fool,

I’ll get a load of fan mail every day,
And at night, in a king size bed, I’ll lay,

Getting lots of free stuff like a pair of vans

Pulling Teeth

but my chance is looking a bit grey,

You just watch me lay and cry.

It just makes me wonder about you,
And why 1 and 1 makes 2,
Also I sit for a while,
And wish I could run away from you mile after mile
