Cheapest way to travel between Redhill & Newark

Hello all

I need to get a return ticket from Redhill, Surrey to Newark on Sat 10 Feb. This will include crossing London. What is the best way to buy tickets?

Apologies if this should have been posted on one of the sticky threads, I did read them but felt totally confused

Quick look shows a return from Redhill-Newark as £53:70, this would be good for any train so maximum flexibility and no need to buy in advance. This can be reduced to £30.00 by buying a travelcard from Redhill, £10:80, then 2 singles for the Kings Cross-Newark-Kings X at £9:50 each. The £9:50 tickets have to bought in advance, as soon as possible and are only valid on the train you specify when you book, so no flexibility at all. Try this LINK for more info.
