Anyone had good experiences with contents insurance?

Trying to insure my laptop + phone to the value of about £3000, however after visiting most of the comparison websites and reading reviews, it seems that most insurance companies received really bad ratings and are very unwilling to pay out.

Anyone have a recommendation on a contents insurance company that won't nip-pick on the finer details to avoid paying out?

We are with Marks and Spencers and they have paid out on high value items for us thankfully, but sadly!

I agreed to be multi tied for home insurance with my network, however i send pretty much every policy to a company called Select & Protect.

They are only available through advisors/brokers but i use them as they seem to have a philosophy that you would hope for when making a claim - ie they wont find excuses not to pay. Theyre also a small company (when compared to going direct to an actual insurer) so there is more of a small business feel to it and they actually do the right thing.
I know that sounds really soppy, but im happy i can use a company that seems to treat its customers the way you would expect to be treated.
