Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts I've been Money Tipped!
In addition to the huge stash of dried ,tinned ,frozen etc food stocks, cleaning stuff etcI also squirrel away shoes and winter coats.

I go to our local carboot every week and often find very expensive new hotter shoes for a £1 or two,
    I now have 20 pairs.Also expensive good quality coats, I have 8.

ReckonIbetter stop it though, cramped for space,

I'm the opposite - I have about 4 years worth of toiletries and cleaning stuff, but nowhere near in the food department. A lot of the stuff on the Mr T DTD deals was fresh or frozen, which I don't have the capacity to eat or store, so I stuck to toiletries, cleaning stuff and wine :) My car is pants in the snow, and luckily I work from home, so I want to have enough in to live off for a couple of weeks.

OMG - I feel like a total amateur! Have you got room for a little'un and two kitties at yours? :D

I think I am going to have a little section of the trolley for stash and spend xx amount on it each week.

    LOL, of course!:D

Seriously though, I do live in a pretty rural part of Scotland (and grew up in the middle of nowhere in the Highlands so stockpiling was drummed into me from an early age).

I have 2 small supermarkets which are both an 18 mile round trip (different directions) - they are OK for bits but have limited stocks and tend to only have smaller bags of stuff - and you can buy larger packs much cheaper at the larger stores ... but the nearest large sm is a 46 mile round trip and another a 48 mile round trip.

We do have a small local shop which is fab if you run out of the odd thing but it is very expensive and runs out of stuff all the time (and didn't get any deliveries for over 3 weeks last year).

I also buy a lot of stuff at Home Bar*gains - loo & toilet rolls, toiletries, rice (they had 1kg Tilda for 99p for a while - not been since mid Sept so not sure if they still have it) and cat litter etc there but it's a 54 mile round trip ....

So really, as it costs so much in fuel to go anywhere, I do tend to bulk buy stuff when I do go.

There's probably plenty more as well which I can't think of right now. Needless to say my 2 bed flat is brimming. Fingers crossed we're hopefully buying a house in the very near future so will have more space to store it all, just need to pack it all up and move. Am looking forward to having more freezer space and stocking that with meat and home made goodies as well as, at the moment I have a small one just on top of the fridge.

  • Wow! You guys are GREAT! I'm so impressed!! OH just sniggers at me if I moan about having less than 3 tins of beans!! Although having just discovered couponing we've got 20 rolls of loo roll and a good few bags of chips etc!

I'm going to stop listening to him & start stocking up a bit more!

However I think anyone who knows me, would know there's NO WAY I could ever have this much wine in the house! Empty bottles maybe but not full ;) :rotfl:

I've trained my OH - he now sounds slightly panicked if he realises we've less than 4 tins of beans/soup :rotfl:
