Annual Travel Insurance - family health

I recently renewed my annual travel insurance and amongst the questions asked was one around any family member or friend who was ill, seeking medical advice or undergoing treatment.
My answer, which was honest, was not as far as I'm aware. Now what is worrying me though is two fold -
my parents (as far as I know in good health) are intensly private people and would never dream of discussing their health with anyone, even me (their daughter). I dread to think what their response would be if I said I needed to know for my travel insurance.
my husband's parents - strained relationship, I've had no contact for 10+ years, hubby visits once every 2 months or so. His relationship with them is such that, again, he would have no idea if they were receiving any kind of treatment or advice.
Both sets of parents are in their late 60's/early 70's so I'm aware that they are more likely to have health issues than younger people however I'm really worried about what would happen in the event of us having to curtail or cancel a holiday due to one of them becoming seriously ill, or worse.
Whilst my parents would be more than happy to state that, in the event of a situation, hubby and I knew nothing of any illness, his parents, unfortunately I would not trust as far as I could spit.
I'm not sure what I can do (if anything) but this is really worrying me since the insurance adviser was not terribly happy with my "as far as I know " response stating that it may be an idea to find out.
Any advice?
