advice please

Hi everyone, I'm just looking for a bit of advice, We bought some supermarket home brand pie's. Anyway we was sat having tea when my child started to choke, i tipped him upside down ect still nothing came out luckly we live near to the hospital where he was taken and the doctor managed to get the blockage out without any operation or anything. After he had asked what he'd been eating at the time so i explained it was pie, mash and gravy and he showed us a crushed up piece of metal.
Ive since emailed the store's head office and been told to take the metal and pie box into my local store which i have done and i have taken picture's of the piece of metal.
I spoke to the manager at the store and she refunded the price of the pie's and said how sorry they was and they'd investigate how and why it had got in there.
Has anyone ever had anything like this? and wat will happen now?
Was i right to just hand it in or should i have taken it further? I'm in total shock about it all and don't really know what action should be taken.
Can anyone give me any advice on what you'd do and what will happen about it now?
Thanks

The supermarket will conduct an investigation.
You might automatically be updated on its process, or you might need to ask for this if you want it.

You could also write to head office to inform them of the problem, if you feel it necessary.

I hope your son is okay - it must have been a shock!

Edit - you can report things like this to environmental health, i think, but this will turn on the pressure on the supermarket so they usually try to prevent it.
