Atos Confused ??

I wonder if somebody could advise.

I had an appointment booked for assesment on Dec 8th at local Atos assesment center but spoke to my doctor to request my assesment was done at home due to my problems with traveling. My doctor sent details via fax to atos explaining why I could not travel.

Today I phoned Atos to see if my appointment had been converted to home visit, and was told I no longer need an assesment as they had received enough information from my doctor. Does this mean they are making a decision without even seeing me and if so what is that decission likey to be???

Sorry about spelling..

This will probably mean that the information your doctor provided was enough for them to decide that you meet the requirements.

You'll get a letter, although it will take a few weeks - you might well notice that your payment changes in the mean time, and you'll be able to work out which group you are in from that.
  • Generally that's a good sign.

Your GP probably bombarded them with all the evidence they needed to back up what you said in your 'questionnaire' and so sending out someone is a bit pointless.

Give it about a week and then ring the DWP, ask if they have made a decision on your case. Also, as Elle7 said, your payment may increase before you get a letter telling you their decision, this will usually be the same day your usual payment is due.
  • Since when has ATOS started to contact GP's in ESA claims?

I thought that the DWP did that, albeit in very rare cases.

The GP contacted ATOS, as is procedure where a home visit is requested.

The DWP regularly contact GPs as part of the WCA process.

I can confirm it was my GP that contacted ATOS and I believe it was to convert my assesment into a home visit. So I was a little shocked when I called them and they said there was no need for an assesment at all as they now had all the information they required..:j
