Tesco Direct Delivery Issues bit of a vent but Praise for Tesco extra Galleons Reach

I order an item from Tesco Direct last Tuesday in preparation for my sons birthday yesterday - it should have been available to collect Wednesday - so of to my local store wednesday evening only to be told that my order number did not exist but not to worry they are having a few problems and would ring me Thursday to update me. Thursday comes and goes and no phone call so on Friday morning hubby walks to Tesco only to be told again that my order does not exist, he explains that this is part of sons bithday present and needed for Sunday - no worry they say they will find it and we could collect it on Friday evening, and that Tesco direct are having a few issues on deliveries at the moment. Now I am worried to be told a second time that the order did not exist, especially as the money had been taken directly from Bank account at time of order, so I rang customer services - they told me a totally different story, that it had been dispatched on the day of order arrived at local depot the next day and on the same day 30th was delivered to branch! so I managed to get them on the phone and again not much help just denied that my order existed and could therefore not have been delivered but promised me faithfully that they would ring me back - did they NO. So early Sat I went off to Lakeside to buy my son something to wrap on his birthday!!!
On Sunday I happened to be at Tesco Galleons Reach and noticed that they had the item on the shelf - all be it more expensive than Tesco Direct - explained the situation and showed them my order which I happened to have in the car, and they called a manager not sure if they would be able to help me - Well I only have praise for the manager - Gareth, did not get a surname and the young lady on Tesco Direct - Gareth authorised her to refund the item ordered with Tesco direct and to sell me the one from the shop floor at the same price - now they did explain that I would have to wait 3 - 5 days before the money returned to my account from the cancelled order, but it at least meant the my Son had a lovely surprise on our return - so Thank you Tesco's Galleons reach for sorting out a problem that was not really anything to do with your branch.

But please note that they did tell me that they were have massive delays on ordered items being delivered so if you need something by a certain date oredering from tesco direct at the moment might not be such a wise thing!
