Buying advice on 2007 Mondeo Zetec petrol

Hi

Could someone advise me on this potential purchase please.
Mondeo 2.0 Zetec petrol. Reg: 57. Mileage: 46k

3 owners:
1st owner - Ford themselves: used 11k miles in first 6 mths as company and demonstration car.
2nd owner - used 23k in 14 mths
3rd owner - 12k in last 2 yrs.

MOT'd in October this year. No road tax. Full HPI clearance. Comes with 6 mths AA warranty.

Car has 3 Ford service stamps. last one at 34k.

Have been offered £5.5k with oil and filter service included.

Would you say this is a good offer (bearing in mind that it is probably due a full service around now?).

Or should I stray away from a model which used to be a demo?
Your comments are welcome on the above.
Thanks

This would be a MK 4.

I would say it is rather a high price for a 2007 model.

Look at this from a quick look on AutoTrader:
    http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201141421595149/sort/priceasc/usedcars/price-to/6000/price-from/5000/model/mondeo/make/ford/postcode/dy123lx/page/2/radius/30/quicksearch/true?logcode=p

    for £400 more.

Also, three owners is a lot for a four year old car. The AA warranty is worth nothing as if you're buying from a dealer the law states that the car must be of merchantable quality when you buy and if anything goes wrong within (I think) the first six months you can go back to the dealer and expect the problem to be fixed. Too many dealers are trying to get the customer to pay for a warranty that should be provided by them for free.

    Thanks for that poppasmurf.

I wanted to go for a petrol rather than a diesel. I won't be using it more than 10k miles per annum and not really much motorway driving.

The link you sent from Auto Trader is a diesel and also it has a 100k on the clock.

Also, on the Parkers values the same spec as the one I'm looking at (with 40k miles) as:

    Independent Dealer £6,765

    Private Good £6,415

    Private Poor £4,995

But they are offering £5.5k which is quite lower than the valuation.

    It's all a bit confusing.
    Any thoughts?

    Thanks
  • Diesels are about £1k more for than petrol for the Mk 4 Mondeo. I was showing what is available for around your price. The one I showed was a year younger than the one you are thinking about but did have £100k which is nothing for a diesel Mondy.

Don't go by Parkers - go by prices that are offered for sale by dealers and private sellers and then make up your own mind.

When that passes 100,000 miles they will find it harder to sell. people still think under 100,000 miles
is OK but over is end of its life.

Probably still fresh enough to do the same again with basic servicing.

Sold my MK3 petrol with 150,000 miles, 2 years on its still alive and kicking. Bought a diesel
with 140,000 miles to replace it and the engine is still going strong.

Add another 50,000 miles to the one above and i will snap your fingers off for £2000 - £2500.
    Except its not an estate.

The major service was the third service. The service now due and the next one after that are basically just an oil and filter, pollen filter and quick look around.
