I've used Open Office for word processing and spreadsheets and wonder if
there a free software similar to Outlook?

I guess maybe a combination of Mozilla Thunderbird (email) and Mozilla Sunbird (calendar). Can't think of an all-in-one."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

may sound silly, but the new version of hotmail has an ms office style inbox0

No don't need the calendar and task list.
Many thanks.0 -
If you don't need calendar and tasklist then Thunderbird is excellent. We've been using it at home for a couple of years without any problems. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -

- email
- contacts
- calendar

And advertising, and use of your email address for whatever purpose Google wants to put it to, and monitoring of your email to target advertising... yep - lots of facilities!
And then you have to wait for someone to invite you! Creates a sense of exclusivity and excitement apparently.
Outlook Express - it's already installed!

What advertising as I have never had any problems? and what use of email?
Is their any links at all? :beer:0 -
gMail is monitored for keywords / trends so that advertising can be targeted towards your interests. Most of it is automated, but not all of it - and they do have a right under the Ts & Cs for google staff to wander around your eMail for whatever purpose they choose!

Same with Google Desktop! So think next time it's ticked to install by default with an update to Java or Adobe... Google isn't the world's richest company for nothing - it's just that everyone still see Microsoft as the big demon! They're now so tightly tracked by the US and European authorities that they wouldn't dare try this kind of intrusion with Hotmail / MSN etc. Google, however, haven't hit their radar screens yet - but they will!
Anyway - rant over! Sorry to have bored anyone, but the Internet is the place to be anonymous, not the forum to open yourself up to the kind of intrusion that government and big business can only dream of!
