Sometimes we regulars can come across as harsh when posting, we are not having a go at you and would ask you to remember that this is a convincing scam, and 7 out of 10 people fall for it and many of us have done the same as you, and doubled checked to be given this advice

You are sorted now though, just join the ignore club and get on with your life... but make sure you spread the word far and wide about PPC's to your friends... and if they need validation, send them here!

    Welcome to the 30%! ;)

Tough love indeed, but the ear bashing is worth it, as I loathe giving these people my dosh ;)

I hope there is a good reason for spending 14 hours parked in a McDonalds car-park.

Ignore Met Parking, the landowner has suffered no damages

Hahaha well spotted, for 14hours they might just have a case, but it was in fact 06:30.

Having sent the appeal letter, for what its worth I did get a reply from MET Parking services and they cancelled the ticket. I know many have said its worthless, but this may be of use to others.

    Thanks

Thanks for coming back to let us know - and at least you learnt about the scam if it ever happens again and you avoided the threatogram letters. So you won!

It's rare but this happens sometimes. PPCs occasionally cancelled an odd case or two we read about here last year as well, we suspect just to be able to show the BPA and Government that they can 'play nicely'. And to pretend that their appeals process is somehow fair, if checked by the BPA or if some examples of successful appeals were needed to show the Freedoms Bill Committee. The BPA have wangled their way in to practically write a whole section of the Freedoms Bill so as to give their shady industry some 'cover' of legislation next year that they can quote on their threatograms. There are lots of threads about it.

It's all for show but at least from your point of view it makes life simpler, so well done!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I am being pursued by MET for two McDonalds parking incidents in a car that was registered to me but had not been in my possession for more than a year. After a few letters from them I actually wrote to them using the template on this site, advising that their parking contract is between them and the driver and I can prove it was not me, and further more that they should stop harrassing me.

I don't think they can read over there because they replied saying they received my letter and believe there is cause for the fine to be justified etc. And this weekend I have received the first 'Debt Recovery' letter.

I am not going to bother to reply any further, but I can't say I enjoy the unneccesary stress of it!!

What "stress"? Just treat their stupid letters as you would any other junk mail.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

Stress from a debt collector? I think you might just be thinking that a DCA has more authority than they actually have. Let's be clear. Although all DCA's want you to believe they have significant powers to do all manner of unspeakable things to you at the end of the day they have just the same authority in law to enforce debts as you and I. The only difference is they understand the system and the majority of their targets don't. Keep in mind that all they can do is ask.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com
  • I had 7 letters from Met Parking, I put them in an envelope with NO STAMp on and send them back, that costs them money, but they didn't learn, they still kept sending them. Eventually the got fed up and gave up. A friend of mine had a similar experience, but just returned all letters with 'not known at this address' thereon. They gave up after 4 letters.

I met some friends in a McDonalds on the outskirts of town. In this particular one there is a soft play area. When my children go they like to play with their friends awhile then eat then play then have pudding then play then go! I have had to separate fines from this company one from March and the second in April!!! (2 separate occasions) in March it was raining and didn't even acknowledge signs driving in as it so busy you have to focus on pedestrians and other cars going into the drive through and when getting out well I have 5 year old twins and well my main concern is getting them into Mcdonalds without getting knocked over as you have to look out for cars coming out and into spaces and then you have to walk across the drive thru to get to the entrance! So I have not even physically registered the signs! But another thing I got a ticket and none of my friends did!? do they just select people at random. My friend who I met there says her and the girls are there for 3hrs at a time and has never received a thing!!! Now I have done the ignore letter route but I have now received a letter from PARKING COLLECTION SERVICES and it has my partners name on the letter! and notification of liability letterand want £100 it says I am breaching the term and condition of the parking. The terms were clearly displayed via signage and agreed to when the driver parked the vehicle on land managed by our client MET PARKING it says we MAY pass this on to a debt recovery agency (I thought this is what they are?) what should I do now?

Did this happen back in 2011?

If not, the first thing you do is stop bumping old threads from before POFA came into force.

Then either start you own thread or look at any of the recent MET threads for the current advice/situation.
