Any opinions on first:utility?
Just a query.
Had a very "persuasive" guy round who convinced me to sign up to E.On's Energy fit Plan. We have 14 days to cancel so it spurred me into looking at a better deal than the current Atlantic one we are on.
On moneysupermarket and uSwitch, first:utility's iSave Duel Fuel v9 was tops (about £350 a year in fact). Planning to change but don't know much about them
Anyone used them? Happy with service, price etc.?
Anything I should be aware of before changing? Any hidden dangers?
** A wee addition - I have now done the comparison on 4 comparison sites and the same tariff always comes out top, saving me £350+, but when I went direct to the first:utility website, they said they couldn't save me money on this occasion. Anyone know whats going on there?

If you do a search on this section of the forum you will find a couple of threads.
People are extremely unhappy with First Utility0 -
Anything I should be aware of before changing?
Usually tariffs at the top of the comparison are there by virtue of being "deferred discount" tariffs. Commonly NPower tariffs are "deferred discount", it is no surprise that the First:Utility tariff is, guess what, a "deferred discount" tariff.
Perhaps you are also not aware that the Eon tariff you are switching to is a "deferred discount" tariff with kn*bs on, it incorporates two seperate years of "deferred discount" that the Eon "turkey panel" voted for before being dumped on in the Christmas "reset".
Don't be a "turkey". Beware "deferred discount" tariffs unless you understand the circumstances you could forfeit the discount.0 -
Why oh why is anyone still signing up via doorstep cold callers? Of course, they're persuasive, they are dependent on the commission that you are giving to them.
A comp site will give you unbiased advice, then use a cashback site to keep the commission for yourself. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Interesting. It's coming up cheapest for me too (edf online v7 ending this month).
It does say the 13% dual fuel discount is only payable after one year. Hefty standing charges too (210 for gas).
I will miss v7!"fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts." (Bertrand Russell)0 -
Thanks everyone.
I have cancelled the e.on energy fit deal (and incidentally the lady on the phone was lovely and just stopped it no no problem). I have now spent all evening searching and looking at comments.
I now trust none of them!!
E.on does actually come second after the dreaded (I now realise) first:utility. So may end up going with them after all.
Worried that I am leaving a company that I was happy with and will end up not much better off, with price rises etc:oSkint: (adjective) The tendency to turn off the grill when turning the bacon.
