Riding a moped with car licence?
Can someone explain the rules about riding a moped.
I passed my moped CBT in June 2009 and it says it lasts for two years. I took and passed my car test in Nov 2010 but the bottom wording of the CBT isn't very clear. It appears to say the CBT covers for the duration of the licence but it's just not clear.
I tried to look on directgov but that just says about needing a cbt. Do I need to pass another moped cbt or am i covered?

you are covered for 2 years from when you took ya cbt. so it has ran out you will need to take a cbt again or/and full bike license. if you had taken you car liscense before 2001 then you would of been covered.0

The 2 year CBT limit doesn't apply for riding a moped if you have a full car licence.0

^ yes it does. it's only if the car licence was obtained before 2001 that you don't need to take CBT (or retake after 2 years). At the moment, they expire every 2 years.

the only way it won't have expired is if you went on to take a full motorbike test.
i did my cbt years ago and now it's expired i will also have to take it again (even though i've had my car licence for 7 years).0 -
If you have a post 2001 car licence you need to pass the CBT to ride a moped, but the 2 year limit doesn't apply, it is valid as long as the licence is.0

That's correct, for all those who passed their car test after 1st february 2001 they only have to take CBT once to validate the full moped group on their licence. If they want to ride something larger up to 125 then the CBT will need to be taken again if it has expired."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

I did a CBT in 2001 but didn't pass my driving test until after 2 years which meant the CBT expired. Does this mean it come back to "life" when I passed my driving test, or will I still have to retake it?
I have code 122 on the back of my licence.0 -
If your CBT expired before you passed your car test then I suspect you would have to do the CBT again."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"
