The location of the interview meant that I couldn't get from there to the Job Centre in time. A week later I receive a letter telling me that because I failed to attend the review I was being given a warning and further failure to attend reviews would result in a sanction thereby stopping my benefit for a period of time.

that's exactly what i meant! they never answer to the phone and even if they do, well, good luck!
the thing is, i could go directly to the job center and tell them the situation....but what happened in my previous case was just the advisor telling me "i cant move the appointment because we cant change the sign on day. just come back the day after with relevant proof of absence" but this of course is considered fail to attend the review :S
