Tandem pushchair recommendations please

:) Hello

Please can anyone recommend a tandem pushchair please, I don't like the look of the ones where one child is below the other one near the ground as I think that looks very unpleasant for the poor child being level with exhaust fumes etc but the ones where one child is in front of the other.

Thank you x

  • How much is the icandy pear please? I had an icandy for my first child and loved it, still have the maxi cosi car seat which would fit but I can't find a price online!

I'm not sure, they don't publish there prices online :( you'd have to go to a shop that stocks them to find out I think.

From looking online I found prices from about £750 up to £1000 but I'm assuming that's buying maxicosi car seats etc, which you already have :)

Okay managed to find it - £479.99 apparently and that includes chassis, 2 pushchair seat units, 2 raincovers, pump. You can buy the carrycots etc separately.

    Hope that helps xx

  • Thank you, I looked it up on gumtree and it seems to be about £400 second hand!!! (faints) However it does look fab so I might just pool the money both sets of parents may give us and go for it.

I know I've seen it in real life, and love that if you have twins you can have 2 carrycots. I hate seeing a newborn baby in a pushchair.

  • Do you still have your single pushchair? Which iCandy model is it? As a few of them will convert to a double by purchasing a tandem kit. I know the Apple will convert into the Pear, as an example. Should be quite a bit cheaper as you don't have to purchase a whole new frame, and will convert back to a single when #1 outgrows the pushchair.

I don't have children, but see a lot of double pushchairs in my area. Those that don't go for the Phil & Ted's style (I'm not a fan either, especially after I saw a child in the lower section nearly get their head smacked into the ground trying to board a bus) seem to go with the Mountain Buggy doubles. They're side by side and have recently released a new one which is the same width as a wider single (about 30" I think).

I am a fan of the Baby Jogger City Select myself. Only seen one but it looks fabulous. :money:

Only trouble with the pear ive found is the seats are quite small, with wont be a problem for the newborn as he/she will be in the carrycot... but an older toddler you may have trouble with longer term x

If the reason you are getting a one infront of the other is your doors then a narrow side by side would be the new mountain buggy duet fabby to push and narrow x
It is better to stay silent and be thought a fool, than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt. :p

Of all things we give a child, our words must be carefully wrapped.
  • Hi.

I can second the Baby Jogger City Select. It's like the iCandy, but cheaper and IMO the seats are at a better position so the child behind doesn't feel squashed in and can get a better view of where they are going.

I tried loads out and settled on a mountain buggy - fantastic quality, very easy to manouvre and gave the most head/leg room for each child, about £250 preloved.
