Help getting started with Halifax loan PPI

chillipalmer wrote: »Thanks for the feedback. I have now made those changes. However, I am also think of adding the following:
In line with the Financial Ombudsman Service recommendations it is requested that the overall situation be restored as if PPI had never been included. This will entail:
A refund of the monthly payments that have actually been paid towards the overall loan in excess of those that would have been needed, if the original loan had been sold without the PPI policy;
Restructuring of the loan going forward so that the amount owed, the monthly repayments, the term and the charges reflect those that would have applied, if the original loan had been sold without the PPI policy.
In addition, interest at the rate of 8% simple per annum to any excess payments made from the time each payment was made to the point that (company name) pays them back to myself.
Unless you can prove without doubt that this PPI policy is fair, reasonable and suitable for my needs, I demand to be placed back into the position I would have been had this PPI policy not been included. I will therefore demand a full refund of all of my paid PPI premiums plus 8% interest from (inception date) to (todays date).
Should I add this to the end, or is my letter strong enough as it is? and also do I still need to send in the questionnaire that I filled last night.
Many thanks
Stay cool
I think your first is fine, keep it simple but positively worded and send it with your questionnaire. Only send copies and do it recorded delivery, keep the originals and keep a diary of all dates, good luck
Successes
Sainsbury's/BOS £6,400 Paid
MBNA £3,600 Paid

Nice one, thanks!!
Forgot to mention that the loan has been paid off, will I still be entitled to all of the premium plus interest?
Will get them printed off and sent out tomorrow. Will head to your advice and will keep originals and send copies only via recorded.
If all goes well will claim on then I will claim on the first loan I took out in 2007 (lost the paperwork unfortunately).
Time to stick it to the man!!!!
Many thanks

If upheld you should receive back all PPI paid on both loans + 8% standard interest - any rebate from the refinance. Some banks pay the APR back too but lots don't, good luck

Evening everybody,
Well today I received an acknowledgement letter from Halifax to say that they have received my complaint. Standard issue stuff inside the letter and leaflet as well. All I got to do now is sit and wait and see how It goes.
Fingers crossed.

Evening everybody,
So I received another update today. Halifax have offered me a refund of £2978.10. That includes my insurance premiums for two loans and all the interest. To be honest that is a fair offer to which I can't really complain about. So going to take it. Just got to wait and see how long it take to get the cheque. Hopefully not too long with Christmas around the corner.
Just wanted to say a BIG thank you to everybody that gave me advice and to everybody who post on here. Without your advice I would not have had the confidence to go ahead with my complaint. So once again thanks.
