Help with mp4 player

I recently bought a Sumvision Yumi Pro mp4 player for my father from ebuyer.
The manual that came with it is absolutely terrible, but I assumed it would be much like my old mp3 player to add files.
I named each album and put them all in the "music" folder. So far seemed so good.
When you turn the player on, you can press "menu" twice to go to the music folder and there you can see each sub folder. The back and forward arrows let you scroll up and down to choose one.
This is where i get the problem. It won't let me select the album folder. The manual doesn't tell you which button to press, so I have tried each one in turn to see what happens. The only one I think it could possibly be is the "volume" button, which does nothing.
I don't know if I'm doing it wrong or if the player is faulty. I submitted an enote to ebuyer to ask them, but im approaching the date when I would need to return it, so I'm hoping someone here can help
Sorry for writing so much, any advice very much appreciated!
