i would try and find a tea towel that states all the inventions made by scotsmen- it goes on about mcadam, mcintosh, fleming etc etc or a clootie dumpling and a clootie dumpling cloth! or a ma broons cookbook and this years the broons or oor wullie annual - tradition in our house every sunday was to fight over the sunday post to get it first! you can also get aprons, mugs, tea towels, coasters with scottish words like glaiket, blether etc which would make a lovely hamper - mugs, coasters, teatowel with a bit of scottish foody stuff.

I used the box my Amazon delivery came in- wrapped it with a tartan giftbag I received last year. I will wrap it in cello and add a tartan bow ( from my ribbon in my craft box) and a tag advising to have " a guid nicht in!"

    hope this helps!:T

Obviously you will need to watch the weight/size if sending to Australia but you can get irn bru flavour chew bars as a substitute. Id also check what food stuffs can and cannot be sent over. An actual haggis may cause problems as it is an animal product.
What about a CD of scottish music- or red hot chillie pipers for a modern twist. I can't stand the sound of bagpipes but when I lived "down south" It was known for me to loiter in shop doorways just to listen to certain songs that reminded me of home. Runrig, Caledonia, Auld lang syne etc. You could do this yourself!

The food stuffs may be an issue. But if you check the web sites of the products/companies listed above you should be able to quickly find out if the goods are available in Oz.
With a bit of help from google I found this

  • Although this might be a bit late for the OP, here is an older thread I took inspiration from https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/450801 as I did one for a family member for their birthday

I put in alot of the things already mentioned above. A few more suggestions:
    - Box of batter and a mars bar (add a fancy tag for a recipe for a diy battered mars bar)
    - highland / bag pipe music. I found some LP's from the 70's for the edinburgh military tattoo they were 50p each in a charity shop
    - decorate with tartan ribbon / tisue paper
