should i be entitled to working DLA

can someone who know how the goverments benefits system works please PLZ advise if i would be entitled to working DLA.

i have 2 medical conditions 1st be I'm partially deaf.(can't hear in 1 and only hear about 75% in the other which is getting lower by the year)
2nd condition i suffer from Ulcerative colitis which can be a challenge to life with as should i be out anywhere i need to know my surroundings encase I need to use a toilet... (not a plesant way to live when your only 39yrs) This is serious enough as i have to see my hospital consultant ever 3 months and get bloods etc check every months. i'm on 2 types off medication for this for the rest off my life.

What my question is am i entitled to working DLA as i am a strong beliver if someone is entitled to something they should have it. i just don't want to make a fool out of myself (my condition can be embarrassing enough)

Please help and advise

  • DLA is based on your care needs, not your diagnosed conditions, I know that the criteria has changed, or is in the process of changing. It sounds like your conditions may, or may not be covered under the "care" component. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/DisabledPeople/FinancialSupport/DG_10011816

Current new claims and reviews are being tested not only against the DLA criteria, but also against the criteria that is anticipated when PIP eventually comes out.

I only found this out with talking to a Decision Maker recently who said that it was being done on a 'testing' basis.
This was as an answer to as to how or why are some current decisions being still given as 'indefinite' whilst most are now coming out with fixed term lengths. I was concerned that even with an 'indefinite' decision, there would be a review under PIP.
I was told that that it would be most unlikely for these new & review cases as they will have already passed the anticipated PIP criteria. When PIP comes in, these cases will be at the very end of the review stage and most likely will be transferred straight on to PIP without review.

I`m sorry but I dont believe any of that, test cases have been done on a VOLUNTARY basis on the understanding that they wouldnt effect any award on a current or future basis,PIP hasnt yet had the i`s dotted or the t`s crossed,so no one knows when or how anyone will be moved across and the idea of PIP is that all dla cases WILL be reviewed probably involving and atos type medical(its debateable as to wether atos will be involved or not as yet)
either you misunderstood the DM or the DM isnt clear on whats planned
