This is one of the greatest rip Britain...... things I have ever seen.

Hudson Reed, they are a massive manufacture of high quality showers, taps, radiators, ect.

I have done a lot of research into this and have been looking into many shops, I have noticed that they have word wide shopping sites. they all offer free delivery, whatever country you are in.

I looked at the french site and noticed they had a sale the same as the uk site, I also noticed in the shipping on the french site you could sent it to, Poland, Germany..... or wherever..... and as soon as you selected England, it said something about tax! and return to the uk site to order from there..... no we ARE in europe, and I could see slight price variations, but not like this....

and on any other site in Europe triple thermostatic head and body jets 294.42 yes, that's euro......yes that was £194....... and with free delivery..... how can this be...they cannot do or justify this, as they are sold in every county, I would like to bet that they are all made in the same place too...... this must be the biggest rip off ever.

Speechless!.... I don't know but how about trying to get a French 'Diy store' (Mr Bricolage?) to order the goods and forward them to you. I am in the market for new bathroom fittings so thanks for the heads up!

I was looking at Hudson Reed stuff a while ago & I thought better if it cos of the price. If I ever consider it again I will buy it in Euro's & get it delivered to my in-laws holiday home in Spain!

In fairness, perhaps they are trying to build a reputation on the continent and so are selling below cost in the hope of making money there later. And since they already have a good reputation in the UK, they are able to afford expansion by charging "what the market will bear" here.

If they sell in retail stores in France, the next time the papers do "FRANCE FOR £1" trips, book one, go over and buy it.

NO... they have a good reputation, in france and it is the same....for the other places... this price is just to much....far far to much...go through to buy the ited and you will see....free delivery everywhere.....

I dont know about the shops in France, as this is a direct sale....yes.. its bad..... the stuff is top, 10 year gt.....

what next....I have sice found out, they are all made in the same place...even worse!

To be fair, there seem to be some kind of 'offers' involved in the French prices (the 'Retail' prices don't involve such a great differential, though the French prices are still cheaper).

Can you not take advantage of these 'online offers' and buy via the website? The carriage can hardly be significant in view of the price saving.

Hmm, the answer is 'No'. "Due to UK tax legislation, etc etc" you have to buy via their 'UK partners'. Is tax on bath taps that much?

So much for free movement of goods and services throughout the EU.
I wonder what UK tax legislation they are referring to? Maybe worthwhile asking them. I suspect they may have difficulty justifying this.

Hello, mr biggles....the prices are far different.....forget the RRP, free movement, yes they should be slapped for this.....

There is no tax, we are in the EU, vat and all them things are placed on the purchase,...look closer and go to the Hudson Reed site in Germany of any of them...is the same....

we are not talking pennies. multiple of hundreds more like...

how sad this is. when you put that you live in spain, and contact in poland thats fine.

but not the uk.

a) I didn't say they weren't different, I said the retail prices, "don't involve such a great differential", which they don't, compared to the French 'offer' prices.

b) I still wouldn't call them 'far different', generally the retail price is slightly more Euros than it is Pounds, eg €447.67 v £401.86, €530.56 v £486.74 etc, so still around 30-40% higher all the same.

c) I'm not sure why they should be 'slapped', all companies have different prices in different areas for different reasons. Surely that's up to them? Don't make too much fuss, they may all come up to the UK price! Take advantage of it, as suggested, via a 'booze cruise' ;-)

Isaw this on a tv programmes a while ago.

A couple were renovating houses and they found it far far cheaper to actually go to France, buy the bathroom and kitchen fittings and bring them all back.

They saved a fortune.

I cant remember exactly where but they showed one of the big hypermarkets in Calais sell all plumbing gear at knock down prices.
