Prices of Gas & Electricity across the EU
This will perhaps bore the pants off some people, but it may interest others.
Here is the official EU portal that gives prices of Petrol/Diesel/GAS/Electricity for all countries. Updated to today's rate. Comparing Spain and the U.K. we pay less for electricity
amazingly!

This is a brilliant website so thanks for posting it. I knew about Spain's electricity being slightly more expensive than in the UK - the winter of 2009 in Spain was the coldest in many years and, boy, it took forever for a villa to heat up (tiles floors/no cavity insulation/no CH/no double glazing!!). We were all dreading the electric bill that winter.....0

This is misleading though according to the discussion i heard after the Energy companies trotted out this line (that we are the cheapest in Europe) the other week. I understand that most of the EU taxes energy much more highly than we do, so if you compare prices before tax the UK is more expensive.0

Offpeak, Glad you liked the link, Many people mistakenly think Spain is always warm/hot, and nothing could be further from the truth as you obviously know! My daughter has just moved to a chalet and trying to find out the cheapest way of heating.not an easy task.
She has ducted air con to heat with heat pump, but she is scared stiff the cost of running it are going to be prohibitive. Just her standing charges at the moment are 25 euros a MONTH!!!then the however much she uses, her monthly bills are usually about 70 euros.
and that is NOT in the winter months. The thing is the living room is large 45 square meters.
so the portable gas fire she has, I can't see it warming the place up?
Difficult to work out the possible costs.................at least for us!When man sacrifices the Love of POWER for the Power of Love, there will be peace on earth.0
