mice in restaurant

not sure if this is the right place to put this but this is what happened to us today. 3 of us - Grandma, Great Auntie & me (mum) drove down from Bedfordshire to Worcester to visit daughter who is at uni therre and do a bit of shopping. when we began to flag we decided to go to a chain pub for a lunchtime meal. It was very busy which we expected and were advised of a 40 minute wait to be served, fine by us. Once the meal arrived we started tucking in, and halfway into it, a couple dining near us noticed a mouse under our table, pointed it out, then my daughter felt it on her foot. We did jump a bit, but took receipt back to the counter, explaining we did not feel able to continue eating there, whereby management sheepishly refunded the full cost and apologised, explaining they had had rentokill in all week trying to resolve the issue. Should I put in a complaint anyway to Enviornmental Health or the council, and should they be open knowing they have mice running around in the diring areas, or should I at least inform the head office of the chain what happened?

Have yo never had mice at home? An remember you are only ever a few feet away from a rat.

Bit off putting but not worth getting too excited about.

Good grief! I should hope that most people have never had mice at home!

Puts a new twist on 'waiter there's a fly in my soup.'

Really? Try living in a country town - field mice getting into people's homes is a regular thing. We've had to set traps in early winter almost every other year since we've lived in this house (14 years).

No. They are aware of the problem and are dealing with it. You've had a refund and an apology. Not sure what else you want from this.

If their are Mice in the Dining area then the EHO will not be aware of this as they would place a closure notice on the premises until this is cleared and sorted

the chains HQ may not be aware of any problem as that manager may not want HQ breathing down his neck saying he cant manager his premises
  • Wouldn't bother me - just because there's mice doesn't mean somewhere is unclean.
If that had been me I would have said something to whoever I was with about how cute it was and carried on with my meal. It's not like the mice made the dinner, as long as the food is stored correctly the mice won't have come into contact with it.
Seems a bit of a non issue to me - they already know they have mice and are dealing with it.
