Sealey Tools

What is the quality like?

I am interested in a roll cabinet, yes I know Snap On would be better quality but this is a money saving site and I would like to avoid paying 4 grand.

  • Snap On stuff has a life time guarantee, which is why the prices are high. But to be honest, Blue point and Sealey make good enough stuff.

There are always people selling 2nd hand Snap On roller boxes on eBay and such.

You can also buy 2nd hand ones from Snap On reps...

  • i've been using sealey roller cab, top box and side pods for about 12 years, no problems and in an industrial enviroment its wearing very very well, i dont expect i will need to replace it in the the next 10 years. I have some snap on stuff and love it, but its very very spendy.

kind of. its blue point by snap on, some of it is quite cheap under the skin. and i dont think the back up if it breaks will be as impressive. that said, i have quite a bit and its been excellent. apart from i had a lithium screwdriver by blue point. and its exactly the same as the focus own brand. just is a blue case. and 3 times the price. luckily the rep took it back when i pointed this out.

Halfords pro range though stupidly doesn't cover moving parts... like ratchet mechnisms, castors etc.

    From the halfords site: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_14552_productId_563158_langId_-1_categoryId_173017
Halfords Advanced Professional Hand Tools Lifetime Guarantee

Halfords Advanced Professional Hand Tools come with a Lifetime Guarantee.

Should a Halfords Advanced Professional Hand Tool fail whilst being used for the purpose and in the manner for which it was designed, it will be inspected and replaced. Simply return the product to your nearest Halfords store with proof of purchase and we will arrange a replacement for you.
    • Proof of purchase is required to validate the Lifetime Guarantee.
    • Misuse of the product will immediately invalidate the Lifetime Guarantee.
    • Moving parts are not covered for wear and tear under this guarantee.
    • Discontinued items will be replaced with an equivalent product in terms of use and quality.
    • This guarantee does not affect your statutory rights.
Yes they do guarantee ratchet spanners.. but only the physical metal spanner itself. Not the mechanism, just the metal. In other words, break the mechanism, screw you, but if the fork rounds itself out on a stubborn nut they'll replace it.

Also note they don't advise you to keep the receipt when you ask about the guarantee. I keep all of mine anyway though.

I have to say I have quite a few of the Halfords Professional range and they are good quality tools.

Utter rubbish. I've had one of thier pro torque wrenches and it failed to click off on 20nM causing a few bolt holes to round out and need retapping and helicoils installed.

I've got their ratchet spanners and they're ok but I'd never use anything of any 'precision' from halfords again. That TW cost me about £70.
