Diesel Jeans

I purchased some jeans in March of this year from the Diesel store near me. They cost £120 and whilst talking to the sales assistant, I was told they would last a good few years.

9 months on, I am getting holes on the inside leg near my gentle regions.

I know I've had them for 9 months, but I'm just wondering if I have any rights? Obviously, they don't guarantee clothes, but it was a lot to pay for only 9 months wear, so to speak.

Anyone got any advice? Thanks,

None really :( I have had a problem not dissimilar to yours - Miss Sixty jeans, similar price, which I only bought about 6 or 7 months ago but have already had to take to the seamstress to get stitched up, so a bit annoyed myself about that. Shame as they fit really nicely - I expect you feel the same about yours! I'll be interested as well to see others' thoughts.

You could write to them and see what they say.

Over 6 months it is basically up to the consumer to prove they are faulty. This is usually done via independent report but not sure who you could get to do this with jeans.

I've had some jeans last a year and others last 10 years. Seems to be the thin jeans that have a tendency to wear thin....erm thinner i guess. Its hard to explain but you can feel a difference in the material when you touch it (or at least i can :P)
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

Aww thanks for the reponses guys. Appreciate it.

Was hoping I could take them back or something. I've had jeans from Topman and FCUK that have lasted a lot longer and cost about £30.

Guess I won't be buying any more Diesel jeans! Thanks all.
  • Might be worth writing a complaint without referring to your rights at first, from a 'disappointed customer' stance. Tell them that you've tried other brands and been happy, but wanted to try Diesel jeans. However, you're very disappointed at the quality of their product given the short life, but given their excellent reputation, you wanted to make them aware in case you had simply gotten a bad batch.

Sometimes, sucking up a little as a 'surprised and disappointed customer' can yield better results than putting them on the defensive immediately.

Denim is denim no matter what the name says, you pay for the designer name.
You get different grades of denim, if you want it to last, ask what the weight is, the heavier the better. 16oz is pretty hard wearing for instance.
Designers however sometimes like to use lighter weight denim because it is softer and better looking, but the trade off is the wear you get out of them.
The designers also treat the denim in various different ways, sand blasting, bleaching, distressed etc can mean the denim going through a few different wash cycles to get the desired look, this all weakens the denim to a certain degree.

Can't tell if this is a typo or a euphemism, but either way it made me smile...;)
