I bought Dell Dimension 2400 computer in 2004 and now requires to re-install but i have either lost the back-up CD or was not included when i bought it. Is there anyway this can be re-install without back-up CD?
The computer is still under warrenty.

if it is still under warranty then maybe if yu phoned up and asked nicely they would send you a backup disc through the post - I'm sure they'd rather do that than try and sort out the problem you actually have!

Have a look at,
Start > All Programs > Dell Accessories > Dell OS Recovery CD
That will let you burn of a 1 time copy of your Windows install cd, I have that feature on my Dell but I'm not sure if it'll be on your system ? The other option is to reboot your pc and press F11 (I think that's correct), it'll let you reinstall everything back to how your pc was on purchase. Again I'm guessing you'll have that on your pc.
Good luck.0 -
Using Dell™ PC Restore by Symantec
Use Dell PC Restore by Symantec only as the last method to restore your operating system.
PC Restore: restores your hard drive to the operating state it was in when you purchased the computer.
Any programs or files added since you received your computer—including data files—are
permanently deleted from the hard drive. Data files include documents, spreadsheets, e-mail
messages, digital photos, music files, and so on. If possible, back up all data before using PC Restore.
NOTICE: Using PC Restore permanently deletes all data on the hard drive and removes any applications
or drivers installed after you received your computer. If possible, back up the data before using PC Restore.
To use PC Restore:
1 Turn on the computer and watch the keyboard status lights.
2 Immediately upon seeing the lights flash, press <Ctrl><F11>.
If you do not press <Ctrl><F11> in time, let the computer finish restarting, and then
restart the computer again.
NOTICE: If you do not want to proceed with PC Restore, click Reboot in the following step.
3 On the next screen that appears, click Restore.
4 On the next screen, click Confirm.
The restore process takes approximately 6–10 minutes to complete.0 -

so with this 'dell recovery cd' option this allows me to create a back up cd of my os, and use if I want to re-install. am I right?Sorry No Links in Signatures by Site Rules - MSE Forum Team 20 -
If it's there, yes. If not, try Ctrl F11 at boot.
You'll lost all your data though, unless you have a backup
