    Thanks so much for your posts and reassurance. Yes, I definitely closed both taps. The gauge has stopped rising now, it just panicked me as it is now about a quarter beneath the red zone and I wasn't planning for it to be that close.... hey ho. The manual does say there is a built in safety release thing so hopefully it will use that if it needs to...

    Thank you so much for your time and advice, it's much appreciated - and I'll certainly check about for leaks anyway just to be on the safe side.

    modern boilers have lots of safety devices. pressure too low or too high and it locks out.
    if the pressure rises very high a relief valve opens. PRV. thats the funny pipe you see on the outside wall.
    Get some gorm.
