Accepted by Vanquis!

So I've been accepted by Vanquis. Horrible APR but I don't intend to use the card for anything other than building my credit rating until I can get more mainstream products.

One thing - they do try very hard to flog their repayment option (which they say isn't PPI, but sounds a bit like it) ... I was very firm about declining it, so hopefully no worries with that being added on, but I will check my statement very carefully just in case.

Thanks all who helped me in the previous threads. It was really appreciated! :)

    Well done, use it wisely!
  • Good to hear!
Just make sure you make NO mistakes with this card!
I have found if you borrow a bit over a few months and then clear it, they make money, you have a bit of Credit at your use, and every 4 months you may get a increase, I started of at £250.00, 18months on my limit is £1750
    BUT

I dont use all of it, as this would ring the alarm at vanquis!

Use a bit and clear it when you can.

Dont waste the chance Vanquis have given you!

Repayment Option Plan? It does seem to be different to (standard) PPI.

Oddly, there doesn't appear to be any information about it on their website, however there are some details at https://www.cardforadversecredit.co.uk/plan.php.
  • I had the terms and conditions emailed to me - just in case anyone wants to know how to cancel the repayment option it is the following term you need to look at ...

    25. You can cancel the Plan at any time. If you cancel the Plan within 30 days of
receiving the information on the Plan and the Plan has not been activated, you
will receive a refund of the Plan Charge (if any) charged to your Account.
If you wish to cancel the Plan you can call 0871 770 4188 or write to Customer
    Service, P.O. Box 399, CHATHAM ME4 4WQ.

I am going to be extremely careful with the card - I definitely won't be making the mistakes of my youth! :)
  • Congratulations

I've just been accepted for Vanquis and the interest rate is just as high as Johnny Depp with the same amount of screaming.

I won't be using mine a lot I'm just using it to get me a lower rate card and one where I wont need to put a bag over its head with eyes cut out and a drawn on face.

I don't care about showing it really :)

Its helping me build my credit profile so I'm proud to have it :)

All the best and if you every get tempted to leave a balance post a message to your brothers and sisters on here and we can talk you out of it :).

    All the best

Lol I leave a balance on my card some months, it really isn't as bad as you'd think!
  • I have a bad credit history, was exepted for vanquis and have spent a little on it. have a direct debit set up to pay. I am waiting for my first statement as i have read if you pay off before statement it does not show on your credit report is that right?
Also how many days is it from statement date to payment date please? so long since i had a credit card I cant remember! Im only using vanquis to improve credit file so dont want to make any mistakes with it.
    Thanks

    Accepted?

If you pay the balance of your card off before the statement there will be a "phantom" balance. You should always wait until the statement has been produced before paying anything. If you then don't pay this balance it will go down as a missed payment.

Average interest free is 45 - 56 days but check the credit agreement that you have signed.

I want to pay it off asap but was worried about paying off before statement if it wont help credit file so thanks for reply.

Wanted to know about payment dates so as to time direct debit at the best time.
